Day 10 Last day in Colmar!

We have really enjoyed our time in Colmar!  It's a beautiful city. We had a nice day, didn't do a ton. Lots of walking!  This is a fascinating city to walk. It seems like every time we try to go a different direction, we end up in the same place. It's just a big ring and all roads lead right behind our apartment! LOL  we started with a walk to the Jewish Synagogue. It was very beautiful, even if we couldn't go inside. Seeing a Jewish Synagogue in a town that was German in WWII that's still here is a powerful thing!  We went to the biggest tourist attraction in town, the Unterlinden Museum. It has a lot of history of the area all the way back before the Romans even got here. It also has a lot of art from the 14th century until the present. It was quite large and confusing to walk through, but we made it!  The highlight was definitely the Isenheim altarpiece!  It's a very powerful piece of art!!!  Christ's suffering is so obvious and powerful! After that, we came home and rested for a little while before dinner. I had 3 places I had picked out to try for dinner tonight that were fairly close to our apartment, heck, everything is very close to our apartment!  We are very central!  All 3 places I chose were either closed, too crowded or we didn't like the menu once we got there. So, we wandered around towards our apartment and ended up at a place literally right downstairs from our apartment!  Sometimes the best choices are right under your nose!  We had an outstanding meal!!!  Emily had wild boar and I had a filet of beef, both were perfection!  We had a soufflé and a molten chocolate cake for dessert. What a great meal!!  We had a nice conversation with the lady who runs the place and found out they were just featured in the Chicago Tribune in an article about Colmar. She had no idea what a big deal that is!!  We had the most to drink in one night on our trip, so excuse anything that doesn't make a lot of sense! LOL. Tomorrow we leave for Avignon in Provence!  We can't wait!  It's a very special place for Emily and I and we are so looking forward to the same Airbnb we stayed in last year that we loved so much!  We are also getting a car on Saturday, that's exciting too!  FREEDOM!!!  Tomorrow is a long travel day, so we may just do a blog with a little info and a lot of travel tips!  You can see how we can go a whole month with just a carry-on and other important tips to make European travel easy and a blast!  As always, thanks for paying attention and sharing these amazing experiences with us!  We love you all!
