Day Two! The Acclimation Day

Well, we had another great day of travel, although we really didn't do a ton!  We were so tired that we slept in until after 9:00. Which for Emily and I is almost unheard of!  We got up and found out our cooking class we were supposed to take today was cancelled at the last minute. We were very disappointed and I was none too pleased!  Let's just say, I wouldn't recommend Le Foodist to anyone!!  ðŸ˜¡  But, luckily, in Paris there's always more to do!  We had planned to go to the Louvre today so we just kept on trucking there. We both have been there a few times now, so we had a good idea of what to expect, but the crowds were worse than either of us have ever experienced!  We both got so frustrated with HUGE tour groups and how rude and disrespectful they are that we ended up going away from crowds and seeing parts of that GIANT museum that we didn't know even existed!  It was exhausting, as the Louvre typically is, but rewarding nonetheless. Then we left and decided to try a place some customers recommended we try for hot chocolate called Angelina's. It was a half mile from the Louvre so, PERFECT!  We got there and the line was about half a block long. So, sadly, we left with no hot chocolate. Oh well, we will try again another time. We went back to the Marais and walked around the Jewish Quarter and picked up some yummy snacks!  They reminded me so much of things my Hungarian grandmother, who We called Mema made. It brought back wonderful memories as good food tends to do. Then we went back to our apartment, or as I will call it from now on, our home, and took a quick nap. Then I searched TripAdvisor for a great restaurant in the general area of our home. We found a great one!  It is called Les Petites Bouchees and it was literally a block away. It was a small plates restaurant, TINY!  The food was amazing!  We split 6 plates. Fried mozzarella with an apple compote, Serrano ham quesadillas, caramelized pork Ribs, mushroom risotto, roasted chicken and lamb kafta with tsadziki sauce. We had a wonderful bottle of Rose' wine and a sampler plate of desserts. It was a great meal, as they all should be on a trip like this!  Put in the research and you'll get the rewards!!  ðŸ˜‰  We left the restaurant and right next door was a hot dog stand. We went to one last year that we loved but we weren't hungry at all, so we just stopped and chatted with the lady who owns it. Emily and I both agreed, talking to her was one of those moments that make traveling abroad so magical!  Here she is, doing American classic food for Parisian's and doing it well. We told her how we understand so much of what she does because we make Crepes for Americans and how rewarding it is when it works. She looked us up on Facebook and we just had a great time talking to her. Then we walked all over the Marais to get our lay of the land before going home to get a good night sleep in our cozy confines!  Tomorrow is a mystery, we haven't decided what to do yet, but we will keep you posted. I know we are getting some Falafel, that's all I can be sure of!!  ðŸ˜€  Til tomorrow, thanks for caring enough to read!!  We love you all!

  1. There's a falafel place I went to in the Jewish quarter....there's a picture of Lenny Kravitz eating a falafel there. Can't remember the name though.

  2. Bummer about the rude crowds and heavy crowds in general. I would not have thought going at this time of the year that it would be so busy.

    1. Paris is always busy, but it's typically better this time of year. Just the wrong day and time to go, I guess. We will adjust. :). Still saw my favorite thing, Winged Victory!!
