Day 8 Left Strasbourg and made it to Colmar

We left Strasbourg

this morning and took the train to Colmar. A very short trip, not even enough time to take a nap 😔.  Colmar doesn't wow you from the train station in the way that Strasbourg did, that's for sure. But once we got to our apartment in the heart of the city, in the old quarter, it definitely began warming up!  Certainly not the weather though, because it's freezing!!  But we can't complain because at least there's no snow. We spent the day relaxing, walking around the city, getting to know it a little bit and just enjoying the day. It wasn't much of a sightseeing day, more of a "this is our home for the next three days" day. On our walk we found the local market, which is open all day every day. That is a wonderful thing!  They had fantastic looking stuff!  I can tell already pretzels are going to be a real problem for me!  They are everywhere!  They have all sorts of delicious things on them and they are fantastic. I can't seem to walk into a store without buying a pretzel.  But after our feast last night, we decided to take it a little easier tonight and buy supplies at the market and make our own dinner.  So we walked around the market to see what inspired us and we found a delicious pasta called trofie. It's designed to be served with pesto and they happened to have the most beautiful pesto we had to do it!  So for dinner tonight, we had an appetizer of a pretzel with onions, lardons and cheese followed by a beautiful piece of lasagna to share, and then trofie ala pesto with a nice fresh baguette and some amazing olive oil we bought from a little store in town for dipping. In case you haven't had our dinners that we make at the store, we can cook!!  LOL Its not even 7 o'clock!  We had a very American evening and now we have the night to sit and watch Netflix for an hour or two and go to bed at a reasonable time so we can be refreshed and ready to go for another week of nonstop touring!  Everywhere we go Emily and I have a blast together we are truly best friends and I am a very lucky guy!!  Thanks for following our journeys. I hope you're enjoying them even close to as much as we are, and if not, just come with us next year!  Have a wonderful day!  We miss you, we miss our store, we miss our puppy 🐶 but we're OK with having three weeks left!! LOL. Tomorrow should be an interesting day, pay attention!  Thank you and good night.
