Day 15 We are in Italy!! ROMAN HOLIDAY!!

We woke up early and left our cute apartment home in Avignon and returned our rental car at the train station. Nothing is quite like trying to maneuver in an unfamiliar place during rush hour. That being said, what a great feeling of satisfaction to have done it successfully!  We got on a train, then another train, then another train, that train went through the Alps into Italy. I couldn't help but think of Hannibal bringing a huge army and elephants over the Alps over 2000 years ago to wreak havoc on the Romans. That was really cool to me because these are some big, snow capped mountains!  Imagine the terror the Romans felt when they saw this crazy general actually come down from the mountains with a good portion of his army still intact!  Then we got on one more train!  This was not a day for a novice traveler! 😜 we were really proud of how well we navigated our tricky itinerary!  It's days like these that you realize what a benefit taking only carry-on luggage is!  We had some tight connections!  One was only 9 minutes between arrival and departure!  We had to figure out where our next train was and get to the right platform. It's not as hard as it sound, though. We made it each time with time to spare. Then, after 11 hours we finally made it the Eternal City, Rome!  Our apartment is small, but adorable!  We can see the Pantheon from our window!!!  Expect a video tomorrow.  We had a fantastic fast dinner at this little place right below our apartment. It was late so we just wanted something quick and boy was it great!  Pizza and bruschetta! Thatsa Italy!!  LOL  we have a big day ahead of us tomorrow so make sure you check out the blog. Gonna be some really special pictures!  Until then, we love you all, we are thrilled to be in Italy! And thanks for caring and paying attention!
