Day 2 Cooking Class and Eiffel Tower

We got off to a great start this morning. We were all well rested, bright eyed and ready to go!  We met at 9:00 and walked to our favorite Patisserie for breakfast. We all had some delicious treats and coffee and then headed to our cooking class. We took a French Sauce class at La Cuisine Paris. It was a fantastic class!  We learned a ton!  Made some amazing food! Everybody seemed to really love it. I think it’s safe to say it’ll be one of the highlights of the trip and we are just on day 2!  We made 8 total sauces and they were all totally repeatable and fantastic!  Our instructor, Justin was fantastic!  He was truly talented and very interested in what we do. It was great to learn from him and to just talk shop with him.  Check out the pictures to see how great we all did!  After that we shopped a little and rested before heading out early for a picnic at the Trocadero which has the best view of the Eiffel Tower. We had a great time and enjoyed seeing one of the truly great sights in the world. It was the first time Emily and I have seen it together in all our trips to Paris!  Again, check out the pictures to see how amazing it is!  After that we were very excited because we had made reservations at a restaurant about a half mile from the Eiffel Tower that was very highly recommended by a customer of ours. After careful research we were really excited to try this new to us place!  It looked and sounded amazing so after our 3 hours at the Eiffel Tower we walked the walk to the restaurant only to be told they never had a reservation from us. We called them and had proof of that, but they still couldn’t do anything to seat us at that point. Needless to say, we were very upset and disappointed.  They weren’t even very apologetic about it. Even after we showed them the proof we called them. It was aggravating, but, whenever you travel, even with a group, or maybe especially with a group you have to expect the unexpected and be ready with a plan B. We took the Metro back to our home area, The Marais and went to a small plates restaurant that we went to twice last year and just loved. We happened to replace eating there with the place that lost our reservation, so in a way, it worked the way it was supposed to, because we had a fantastic meal and nobody felt like they missed out on anything. Only problem was it is now very late so the blog, again isn’t going to be as full as I typically like it to be, but that’ll be made up for as the trip goes on I’m sure!  Again, thanks for taking this journey with us and we will have more adventures tomorrow!  ITS LOUVRE DAY!!!
