Today we traveled from Paris to Avignon in Provence. One of our very favorite places! We were concerned because it was a lot of moving parts and our group had to carry all their luggage and make the train together and make a connection and get to our new Airbnb’s all in one piece. I have to say, it was easier than I thought! Everyone did a great job and we made it without any issues! Our Airbnb’s are all really great! Emily and I are staying in the same place we have stayed for 3 trips now. It’s like our home! Our host here is our friend now and is so wonderful! She bought us a bottle of Rose wine to drink while we are here and the winery is called “Beautiful Emily” We walked in the door and our phones automatically connected to the Wi-Fi! That was really nice. We all took a little time to get settled in our places and then met for a walking tour of Avignon that Emily and I do every year. We had just started when it began POURING rain!! It was already cold and windy, but add the rain in and that was it! We turned back, grabbed a snack of some pizza and salad and went back to our rooms. Today is our Anniversary!! It was 2 years ago that Emily and I were married and that began our journeys to France together also. We were lucky enough that we were able to go out to our favorite restaurant in town just the two of us and have a romantic dinner. It was beyond great! The place is called Restaurant E.A.T. and it is run by a husband and wife who work SO hard just like we do. They are also a charming pair! Patricia and Sebastian do an amazing job! He is an amazing chef and she is the perfect waitress and front of house person! She speaks French, Spanish and english so she is able to communicate fluently with pretty much everyone who walks in. And the best part, SHE REMEMBERED US!! She even had kept a post-it note for the past year with the fact that we will be coming back with a group and to be expecting us!! We had eaten there the last two years and had long conversations with her and apparently it was enough for her to recognize us as soon as we came in. She is so sweet and we were lucky enough to be the last customers in the place and ended up spending about an hour just talking with her about the business, Avignon and the challenges of having some semblance of a life while you both work together as many hours as this business takes! It was so nice. A great anniversary treat! We made a reservation for the whole group to go back there on our last night in Avignon and we can’t wait to share the experience with all of them. The food and the charm of Patricia! Now we are back in the room, doing a load of laundry and deciding what to do tomorrow! We get a van tomorrow and that means FREEDOM! Freedom to go wherever we want! :). It’s supposed to be one of the nicest days tomorrow so we may try and fit in a Roman Ruin or two tomorrow, we will see! Stay tuned for the pictures to find out for sure! Thanks to all who are following us. It’s been tricky to maintain the blog this year. It’s WAY more exhausting to do all this with a group of people! But I won’t let the loyal ones down! I know, when all is said and done I’ll be glad to have these records of these amazing adventures and that’s what keeps me writing every night! Sometimes til one in the morning! I’m thrilled that other people care enough to read my writing. Thanks again and I’ll be back tomorrow at around this same time!!! :)
